  • MARCH 2013 - NEW  TUBE WELL FOR RADHA SOAMI ASHRAM:

The water shortage problems that have beset the Radha Soami Ashram in Birsanagar have finally been resolved. Funds have been raised by the devotees in order to commence drilling a deep water well - over 300 feet deep - and completion is expected by this summer. Local devotees are delighted as it means that for the first time in their lives they will be able to provide a fresh source of drinking water to the local community as well as being able to cater properly for the monthly satsang meetings held in the Sree Sree Mentu Maharaj centre.

After convening a well-attended meeting in the Ashram a programme of activities was initiated including letters of complaint to the local health authority and to the Police. Signed petitions were also circulated and posters put up in order to keep local residents involved and informed.

The Say No To Coal Dust campaign aims to reduce pollution and improve health conditions for local residents. The campaign is already having a positive effect: several coal depots have been closed down and municipal garbage dumpsters have been installed across the zone and empted frequently.
