THE UNITED SATSANG movement has been initiated by Sree Sree Mentu Maharaj in order to unite the different spiritual factions that have sprung up all over the world. Maharaj's aim is to embrace the diverse views and spiritual practices under one banner - UNITED SATSANG - and for all devotees to respect each other and learn from each other. By so doing the wise devotee realises that there is no division in the spiritual world; all are expressions of the same one truth whether we call it ISLAM, CHRISTIANITY, BUDDHISM or SATSANG. We are all One in heart and One in mind. Our paths to God may be different but we are all progressing to the same goal - SAT CHIT ANANDA.

UNITED SATSANG holds regular weekly spiritual classes in order that seekers of Truth can learn from each other by sharing their knowledge and experience on the spiritual path. Devotees study the holy texts and listen to the teachings delivered by the Prophets. Sometimes the spiritual path can be very difficult and its always good to know that others share the same frustrations and anxieties as we do. That is why SATSANG is so important. Slowly but surely we help to pull each other up so that we can climb even further on the road to God.

NEVER MIND IF ANYONE DEALS WITH YOU IMPROPERLY, MISBEHAVES WITH YOU AND HITS YOUR EGO WITH ENMITY; EMBRACE HIM ALL THE MORE, LOVE HIM MORE AND MORE ........ AND MOULD HIM CORDIALLY TO GOOD. ONE DAY YOU WILL BE KING TO HIS LIFE AND WITH TEARS OF REPENTANCE AND GRATITUDE HE WILL COME FORWARD TO WORSHIP YOU WITH ALL HE HAS.

SERVE THE TREE AND ENJOY THE FRUITS BUT BE NOT FOOLISHLY LOVER OF THE FRUITS IGNORING THE SERVICE OF THE TREE

Spiritual Classes

Sometimes we are engulfed by doubts and worries; sometimes we are fraught with insecurity and indecision. We all experience our Arjuna moments on the Kurukshetra battlefield of life when we feel incapable of fulfilling our duty whether in our daily work lives or at home with family.

There are many different ways of meditating but ultimately the aim is the same; to achieve a clearer understanding of Self, control over our lives and finding peace within.

To be able to reach a steadiness of mind we need to learn how to deal with ourselves; how to change our complexes and transform our energies into Godlike qualities.

The best friend we will ever have is our own self. Yet, all too often, time is spent  distracted or pre-occupied by other people or outside influences. If one can set aside some quiet meditation time alone we will gain a greater understanding of ourself, our life and God within.

Let us examine  three types of meditation:

     1.     SELF INTROSPECTION - Lord Krishna’s flute (10 mins)

Here we can observe our actions and reactions each day. Our goal is to be able to study ourselves automatically and to transform our negative energy into positive energy.

Jealousy  → admiration

Attachment → freedom

Anger → understanding

Ego → humility

Prejudice → acceptance

Judgement → love.

If we can imagine ourselves to be like Lord Krishna’s flute, imbibing the Holy Spirit and playing beautiful music, permeating our whole being, our thoughts and actions will be in harmony, tuned to Lord Krishna.

When sitting down to meditate we should concentrate on our third eye (the pituitary gland).  The pituitary gland is shaped like a bean and lies at the base of the skull behind the nose. Concentrating on the pituitary gland while meditating, or doing asanas, helps us remain alert, relaxed and calm.

Physical comfort is essential during meditation, so however you choose to sit, should be to maximise physical comfort.

During meditation, if you start feeling pain in any part of your body, or you feel numb in your legs, you can move to optimise your comfort. Try to keep your mind still and centred and allow your thoughts to come and go without resistance. Slowly, bring your mind back to your focal point, your mantra or picture.

And, when lying down to meditate you should concentrate on a point located at the back of your head.

5 minutes - concentration on a point or picture

15 minutes - inner chant on a word or mantra of your choice.

     2.     CAUSE AND EFFECT MEDITATION

Every action has a reaction. It’s important to practice self-introspection at the end of each day. Think about your activities during the day; assess how well you have done. If you could have done better, analyse your actions and reactions to different situations. By doing this regularly you will eventually find that self-adjustment and self-control become automatic in your day to day activities whatever situation you are facing.

By meditating on a problem and being able to establish the cause correctly is very important. We can only see the cause of our problems clearly when we are not attached to either the person or the situation. If, for example, one looks through a dirty window the world outside also appears dirty. Therefore, cleaning our minds each day should be an essential part of our spiritual life. Only then can we see ourselves clearly as well as being able to see others clearly.

We should always search for the root or cause of a problem in order to understand its effect.

SELF-WORTH AND PRAISE

Meditate on your God within and think about your perfect and divine nature.

Always think of yourself as a child of God.

The more you meditate on your own love and pure nature the more you will become loving and pure.

Never think of yourself as a sinner or a failure otherwise you may permanently develop the characteristics you are thinking about.

     3.  WILL POWER - the most powerful force in the Universe

Your word is YOU.

Always remember the power of the spoken word.

Build up your will power by keeping your word and not breaking your promises.  If you are in doubt about fulfilling your promise or word then say ‘I will try to do it’.

Hand over your will/your wish/your desire to God.

Always remember that God works in His own time for the ultimate good of everyone.
